Welcome back to Coastal Living Waves, the show where we talk about real life on Florida's coast, from storm prep to protecting your biggest investment, your home. I'm your host, Alec, and today we've got a timely topic that a lot of homeowners need to hear. Joining me is Daniel Marion from Barrier Island Roofing LLC in Vero Beach. Daniel, thanks for coming on. Hey Alec. Happy to be here. Always good to talk with you, Alec. So let's get straight to it. A lot of people think the best time to get a new roof or major repairs is right after a storm hits. But you're saying the opposite is true right now. Why is now actually a smart time to call a roofing contractor in Florida?

SPEAKER_00

That's right. Right now, most roofing companies across Florida are slower than usual. We're in that quieter stretch between seasons. Demand drops, so companies are looking for work. And when that happens, a lot of them start lowering their prices and offering better deals just to keep their crews busy. So homeowners can actually save money right now? In many cases, yes. You're more likely to get competitive pricing, better availability on the calendar, and more attention to detail because the crews aren't rushed. During peak storm season or right after a big hurricane, everyone is slammed. Prices go up, wait times get long, and quality can sometimes suffer because everyone is racing against the clock. Right now, it's the opposite. Good companies have time to do the job the right way, and many are willing to sharpen their pencils on the price.

SPEAKER_01

That makes a lot of sense. What should homeowners look for though? Just because prices are lower doesn't mean you should go with the cheapest guy, right?

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. Price is important, but it shouldn't be the only thing. You still want a licensed and insured contractor with good local reviews, solid warranties, and experience with Florida's coastal conditions, salt air, high winds, and our building codes. As for references, check their insurance, and make sure they're not just a flyby night operation trying to grab quick jobs. At Barrier Island Roofing LLC, we still stand behind the same quality and materials whether it's busy season or slow season. The difference right now is we can often get to you faster and work with you more on the overall cost.

SPEAKER_01

Good advice. So if someone is thinking about a roof replacement, major repairs, or even just a solid inspection, what would you tell them to do this week?

SPEAKER_00

Don't wait until the next storm is on the radar. Reach out now while companies have openings. Get a few quotes, compare them carefully, and lock in a good price and schedule while the market is in your favor. You can visit us at Barrier Islandroofing.com or give us a call. We're happy to come out, take a look, and give you honest recommendations. No pressure. Perfect.
